Erica stood on the council estate and looked up with despair at the cracked and looming block of flats above her.

“You’d better still be alive,” she mumbled about her patient’s great-grandson, “Or at least have left some kind of clue behind for us.”

The stairwell inside the building was just as dark and as dirty as it had been even in the days before the world handed. From years upon years of rain and adverse weather, walls and ceilings had been chipped away, through which water and moisture had seeped in and now resulted in moss springing up on the staircase’s railing and the floor.

Erica cleared her throat, “Anybody up there?” She called out timidly, listening to nothing but her own voice resonating in response.

As she ascended the first staircase, she was slightly unnerved, but not grossed out by, the sight of a skeletal corpse. Its’ bones were crumbling into dust, though all of its’ belongings had either already been looted or had blown away.

“Sorry pal.” Erica smiled quaintly.
